Robyn Atkins has worked as a Community Support Supervisor/Coordinator with The Bindu Institute since October of 2024.  She graduated from California State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Family & Consumer Sciences concentrating in Families Studies, and from Western Governors University with a Master of Arts in Teaching, Elementary Education.  She also has a Legal Secretary Certification from State University of New York.

 

​Robyn's work experiences vary greatly.  She spent the last five years teaching elementary education in Reno, NV. During her teaching, she created and implemented differentiated lesson plans to support each of her students’ learning abilities. She had a strong ability to connect with students who have behavioral and/or emotional deficits to ensure each student was receiving the proper education. While teaching, she was also the first head coach for the schools coed soccer team leading them to second place in the district.
 

As a legal secretary, she worked at the oldest firm in Upstate New York with a practice devoted exclusively to the defense of medical professionals and institutions in medical malpractice actions from August 2016 to April 2019. As a legal secretary, she was responsible for maintaining the firm's centralized file system and electronic system by organizing medical records, legal documents, correspondence, confidential materials, and deposition transcripts.

Robyn was a Key Spouse for the 14th Medical Group at Columbus Air Force Base from August 2011 to April 2015 and was awarded Key Spouse of the Year in 2014 for the entire base. This volunteer position allowed her to assist active-duty personnel, and their families stationed in Columbus, MS. As a key spouse she underwent extensive training in Air Force organization and processes, crisis management, professional communication and in the handling of For Official Use Only (FOUO) data according to the Privacy Act of 1974. She worked directly with squadron commanders to ensure the family members of the squadron were being taken care of during deployments with the Hearts Apart program, life crisis, and welcoming newcomers to the squadron.

 

Lastly, she worked as a Case Manager at Denali Family Services in 2007 for the severely emotionally disturbed children and their families. As a case manager, she developed an individualized service plan for accessing and using resources that met clients’ needs. She assisted clients and their families with connection with community services and support identified in their service plan.  She provided family, individual, and group activities to help children and families learn skills for lifelong success.

 

Robyn grew up as a USAF military dependent and is married to a USAF military retiree. She has first-hand experience and an understanding of military lifestyle and culture.  She has lived all around the world.  She is a creative, kind, and empathetic person who has a passion for taking care of others.

 

She enjoys spending time with my two children and husband. She loves working out on my Peloton bike and spending time at the beach. She has three dogs and three cats and has volunteered at animal rescue organizations for several years.​
